Running at the Rainbow Bridge

Oakley

Oakley is a white with red male greyhound born sometime in 2016.  He was found as a stray near Ada, Oklahoma. It is unknown if he can live with cats and/or small animals.

Oakley is a loveable, gentle soul looking for his forever home!

Oakley lived as a stray for a while, and now loves to be in a home more than anything. You can tell he’s grateful to have a good meal and a soft bed. He enjoys short walks in the neighborhood and exploring the backyard in his foster home. Meal time is an exciting event for Oakley and his favorite time of the day. He is not a picky eater and will do anything for a treat, although he does need to follow a special diet to help protect his kidneys. To entertain himself, Oakley loves chewing on bones or toys. He will follow you around the house from room to room in search of affection, as he seems to feel comforted by the presence of humans or other dogs in the same room.

He gets along great with other dogs, big or small, and is very quiet and easygoing. He is not the least bit protective or aggressive about other dogs approaching him. For these reasons, he could likely live as an only dog or with other dogs of any type. However, he has a strong prey drive for other small mammals, so it’s best to keep him away from squirrels and cats.

Oakley sleeps for most of the day, and is generally calm, though his goofy side does emerge when he sees you grab a leash or if he hears you getting his food ready! He will quietly whine to let you know if he needs to go outside. A short walk in the morning and evening is usually enough to tire him out. Overall, a quiet, loving home would probably be best for Oakley, as he still has some fear of loud noises, such as fireworks and thunder.

If you’re looking for a sweet, gentle dog who will be your loyal companion, Oakley is the perfect dog for you!
