Additional Adoption Fee Information

GALT is charging an adoption fee of $750 for Australian retired racing greyhounds 7 years and younger and $650 for those 8 and over.

The Australian greyhounds arrive to us spayed or neutered with current rabies vaccinations. The transportation cost averages $1,620 per dog, and GALT spends another approximately $400 for CBC blood work with heartworm test, Protatek testing, dental and vaccinations required for this environment.

For its almost 22 years in existence, GALT has operated as a 501 (c) 3 Corporation. The Australian retired racers’ adoption fee correlates to this policy.

This hound’s adoption fee is: $750

Rhythm, aka Grease Lightning, is a black female greyhound born February 21, 2017 who is from Australia. Her sire is Magic Sprite and her dam is Betty Be Good. Rhythm has 35 races to her credit. She should not live with cats.

Rhythm has a zest for life that extends to almost everything. She eats with enthusiasm, plays with enthusiasm, anticipates a walk with enthusiasm, and of course, snuggles with enthusiasm. Every morning when we get up and open the bedroom door, she runs out, rubs her face in her fuzzy bed and squeaks all the toys she missed while sleeping. This is when her tail starts wagging and it hardly stops the whole day. She is very curious about the world around her, sniffing all around when we cook or brush our teeth or tilting her head at the speakers during a nature documentary.

Rhythm enjoys a romp with our greyhound, and she would be fine as an only dog. We live in an apartment, and she’s done well while we’re out or when seeing our neighbors. She’s been perfectly mannered when it comes to house training, though she does have a penchant for the finer things in life, so it may be hard to completely keep her off your cozy couch. She is very gentle with the neighborhood kids who flock to pet her and who love her tuxedo markings and the white “Harry Potter lightning bolt” on the back of her neck. She’s very interested in tiny fluffy creatures so probably not cat-safe. She’s not been tested with small dogs.

If you want a dog that will keep you smiling, Rhythm is your girl!
