Thunder
Thunder is a fawn male estimated to be about 2 years old. He came to us from an owner surrender because the other dog in the household was aggressive towards him. Thunder has not yet been tested with cats or other small animals. The results are in! Thunder is 25% Greyhound, 50% American Staffordshire Terrier, and 25% mixed breed!
If you are not sure if greyhound is the perfect breed for you, Thunder is a beautiful blend of the best qualities from Greyhound and American Staffordshire Terrier!
— Greyhound with stamina (Almost impossible to find one to go run 5+ miles with)
— Amstaff that sleeps most of the day (doesn’t exist)
— Greyhound that is obedient (What?)
— Amstaff that doesn’t really bark (again, What?)
— Greyhound that is loyal to you (ok, you might think your greyhound is loyal to you… but no)
— Greyhound that cuddles without you feeling like you’re hugging a bag of sticks (seriously, it’s painful and causes bruising)
— Greyhound that doesn’t fall in love with the burglar (yep, serious problem with the breed)
So, you truly will have a unicorn greyhound(mix) in your hands with Thunder. He’s a very sweet and smart boy and loves his people and his furry buddies! He’s a kind of dog that doesn’t automatically trust a stranger but warms up when realizing they are ok. Due to his past he can be afraid of men at first and other dogs and takes a submissive role in a new pack but absolutely loves being part of one!
He currently lives with a Greyhound, Weimaraner mix and an Amstaff mix and he’s very playful with all of them. At the same time he is very respectful when they put their paw down to stop the play.
Thunder walks pretty well on a leash, if he gets scared or anxious, he might start pulling and can be easily corrected with a calm voice. I find that it’s better to walk him together with another dog as he reflects their confidence and also he likes the company.
Overall I can see the progress in him with just the short time he has lived with us – confidence in new environments and around new people. He responds to his name with amazing eye contact and I believe you can teach him anything as he’s very attentive and learns quickly!
Thunder is fully housebroken and crate trained and loves to wait there until you get back home. When he cuddles with you (and he does love to cuddle) he looks at you with those beautiful eyes and you can’t help falling in love with him. Will you be his forever home where he can feel safe and loved and in return he’ll be forever faithful and loyal to you?
