Additional Adoption Fee Information

GALT is charging an adoption fee of $750 for Australian retired racing greyhounds 7 years and younger and $650 for those 8 and over.

The Australian greyhounds arrive to us spayed or neutered with current rabies vaccinations. The transportation cost averages $1,620 per dog, and GALT spends another approximately $400 for CBC blood work with heartworm test, Protatek testing, dental and vaccinations required for this environment.

For its almost 22 years in existence, GALT has operated as a 501 (c) 3 Corporation. The Australian retired racers’ adoption fee correlates to this policy.

Spiral, aka Bugatti Spiral is a black and white female born March 2020. Her sire is Moreira and his dam is Bugattis Finest. Spiral has 29 races to her credit on Greyhound Data. It is not known if she is cat or small animal tolerant at this time. Spiral is fine with small dogs.

Spiral is a gorgeous 4 year old black Australian ex-racer who just wants a comfy dog bed to partially lie in, another dog to play with, and most of all, a person to love with all her heart. Within minutes of Spiral’s arrival in my home as a foster she attached herself to my side and would not leave me. She is a professional cuddler, and has immaculate house manners. She learned the dog door within about an hour, and can be found sunning on a back yard dog bed or inside on a couch in the classic roach position. She lets her obnoxious 30 lb puppy house-mate crawl all over her, stick its head in her mouth and play with her legs. She has never met a stranger, and just wants pets, cuddles and love. Spiral has never asked to jump up into a bed, but she sure does enjoy stretching out on a couch, either with or without another dog.

She will need immaculate dental care for the rest of her life because she has CUPS – a non infectious autoimmune disease that makes her sensitive to her own oral bacteria. Its usually a painful gum disorder but Spiral has no problem eating her meals and any treats she is given! Bad breath is a common symptom of CUPS, but Spiral does not have bad breath! She will need to be on prescription medications for CUPS, which she takes twice daily in a spoonful of wet food mixed in with her dry chow. She also gets a dental rinse added to her water bowl daily and will need her teeth brushed every couple of days. She doesn’t mind the brushing, to her its all part of being loved!

If you want a very affectionate, tolerant, goofy girl to love, and don’t mind keeping her CUPS well-controlled, this girl will change your life!
