Slugger, aka Plugger, is a fawn male born December 4, 2020. Slugger is an Australian hound.  It is unknown if he can live with cats or small animals.

Slugger is a very sweet, affectionate, and playful boy with the most expressive ears! He likes toys and anything that squeaks! When he goes outside, he will regularly find a toy to play with and if there is nobody to throw it for him, he will toss the toy for himself and go chase it. He loves running laps around the perimeter of the yard. Slugger is very attached to his toys and isn’t the best at sharing, so he could be a great “only-dog” for someone with a yard where he has space to run.

His house manners continue to improve with more practice. Dog doors scare him a bit, he doesn’t seem to like the sensation of using his nose to push the door open. As far as crate training, he may require some encouragement to get in, once he’s in his crate, he lays down and will stay there until he is let out without making a sound. When he’s out on a dog bed he loves to roach. He’s a bit of a Velcro boy so if you move from one room to another, he will lay down where he can watch what you’re doing.

After he was in a home for a while, he became more food motivated. Though he’s still a grazer, he does get excited at meal time.

Slugger likes to run, play, and give hugs. He will do best in a house with a yard rather than an apartment. If you happen to have a kiddie pool in the summer, he will play in it endlessly – just have plenty of towels handy. He would love a family that isn’t gone long hours at a time and one that will be up for a game of catch.
