Additional Adoption Fee Information

GALT is charging an adoption fee of $750 for Australian retired racing greyhounds 7 years and younger and $650 for those 8 and over.

The Australian greyhounds arrive to us spayed or neutered with current rabies vaccinations. The transportation cost averages $1,620 per dog, and GALT spends another approximately $400 for CBC blood work with heartworm test, Protatek testing, dental and vaccinations required for this environment.

For its almost 22 years in existence, GALT has operated as a 501 (c) 3 Corporation. The Australian retired racers’ adoption fee correlates to this policy.

Ryder, aka Rocket Power, is a black with white male born March 10, 2019. His sire is Mepunga Blazer and his dam is Shes Dee Rocket. Ryder has 27 races to his credit. It is not known if he is cat or small animal tolerant at this time. Ryder is very friendly.

Ryder’s not just any Greyhound; he’s a retired racing champ from Down Under, looking for his next adventure and a family to shower him with love and attention. He is a curious and affectionate boy who loves his stuffy toys and romping around in the backyard. Ryder enjoys stretching his legs and exploring and would do best in an active household. That said, he’s still a greyhound and is a rock star couch potato and loves his naps. Ryder is a morning guy and is ready to start the day with a bounce in his step. Unfortunately for him, his foster mom is a late starter, so he bides his time quietly in his bed, playing with his toys and waiting for the alarm to sound. Then he will hop over to the bed asking for some love.

Ryder’s not exactly a fan of kennel time, and who can blame him? He’d much rather tag along with you on your errands, and with a little encouragement, he settles in quite well. He can handle longer hours in the kennel during the day though at night, he doesn’t want to be separated from the rest of the family.

Ryder has a bit of a shoe obsession. Leave your sneakers unattended, and they might just take a little vacation to his bed for further inspection. Additionally, he does have some sleep startle and occasional resource guarding of wherever he is sleeping; with a little understanding and space, these can be easily managed. He would probably thrive as the only dog in the household, with occasional playdates to satisfy his social cravings.
Ryder is a cheerful boy on a mission for pets, stuffies and a prime napping spot to share with his forever family.
