Romy
Romy is a darling girl born March 4, 2023. Her sire is Aston Duke, and her dam is Zipping Rosita. Romy is not registered and did not race.
Sweet & petite is how best to describe Romy. She’s a tiny girl and is as sweet as can be. We’ve really enjoyed having her as a foster and she settled in nicely with our male greyhound. She’s a typical greyhound and sleeps most of the day, and then she has two bursts of energy where we let her run around the backyard. She was previously with another foster in an apartment and was described as a high energy greyhound; that has not been our experience so we think having a backyard for her to burn off some energy a few times a day is key.
Romy sleeps through the night and starts her day around 6-7 am with sweet whimpers from her dog bed that get louder and louder till you get up to feed her. She’s interested in eating breakfast first, then going out to potty and then back to bed for a few hours. This tiny girl loves to eat!
She’s potty trained and barks if she needs to go out and she’s never had an accident in our house. We crate her when we leave and so far, we’ve only left her for 2 hours at a time. She’s easy to crate if you give her a treat. She hasn’t shown any interest in dog toys, though she likes baseball caps and will sometimes drag clothes from the bedroom into another room. She doesn’t chew on anything; she just carries it around.
Romy loves to get pets and sometimes likes to snuggle with her people. It took her a week until she finally figured out how to jump up on the couch and bed. She enjoys being close to her people. She is very interested in going out the front and back doors, so be mindful of keeping the door area secure. We have a tracking device on her and since we crate her when we leave this hasn’t been an issue. She is great on walks and doesn’t pull or seem interested in anything around her, she genuinely just enjoys being on a walk and she has the cutest prance.
Romy starts to wind down for the night around 9 pm and sleeps great through the night. One unique quality about Romy is she has a Roman nose and according to Google “this unique look is genetic and occurs in some racing bloodlines, making them sought-after by adopters who appreciate their individuality.”
Romy’s a cute little girl that would be a great addition to a family with a yard. We don’t have kids or cats so it’s unknown how she would tolerate either, her previous foster mentioned she was good with kids and respectful of small dogs she met.
