Lisa

Lisa, aka Fly Lisa Leslie, is a brindle female born on December 24, 2013. Her sire is BD’s Grayson and her dam is Flying Claret. Lisa has 163 races on record in Alabama and Florida from 2015 to 2017. She went on to have 3 litters of puppies, and is now quite ready to retire! Lisa came to us with quite a large growth on her side that was successfully removed. She should not live with cats.

Lisa knows that her name is actually spelled “Champion”. She was a champion racer having raced 163 times, many at class A. She then went on to whelp three litters. Several of her offspring are also excellent racers. The phrase “she’s ready to race into your heart” couldn’t be more apt for Lisa. She is affectionate and loving, well behaved and eager to please. She plays with toys, runs zoomies, wags her tail even when lying down, and chatters about anything because she’s just that kind of happy girl.

From having lived 8.5 years in a kennel, Lisa certainly adapted to home life quickly, discovering soft beds (although she’ll still happily sleep on a floor just to be close to you) and toys. She has never chewed on anything inappropriate although she especially loves to munch on marrow bones. It is a joy to see her happily rooting through the toy boxes to find just the bone or toy she’d like to enjoy.

Recently Lisa learned to wait at the door before rushing out for a walk. She’s also learning to walk with a harness rather than a lead. She does very well on walks, a mile and a half or more is no effort for her at all.

Lisa just celebrated her 9th birthday on Christmas Eve. 2022 was a tough year for her – with the removal of a large growth on her side and then an amputated toe on her left hind paw. The good news, nothing got her down and she is a happy, peppy senior; she’ll even do a happy dance at meal time!

This girl deserves to enrich your lives in the New Year. Lisa’s ideal home would have a family to adore, a yard so she can run, canine companions to hang out with (no kitties please), long walks in the neighborhood and plenty of dog beds and toys.
