Girlie

Girlie is a darling blue female born April 11, 2022. Her sire is Barcia Blue Boy and her dam is Zipping Chelse. Sweet girl finished last in three maiden races and decided track life was not for her! Girlie should not live with cats.

Girlie is a spirited and vivacious girl who finds any excuse to turn something mundane into a game. Her first obsession is with shoes. Anyone who has Girlie in her life will have to add more time when figuring out when they need to leave because they must consider hunting for shoes. She will take inside shoes outside and bring yard shoes inside. Usually there’s one shoe per bed, but if they’re occupied with shoes, she will just start a collection. Once the shoes have been taken, her next goal is anything soft: dog beds, laundry, a cat’s toy, and even small hand weights. For all that, she does not chew or destroy non-toy items.

Girlie is a smart girl and knows that there’s a difference between her collectors items and toys. Toys are for play, and when she’s playing she is 100% all in. She will race up and down the house, stopping at the toy to recharge before doing another sprint. Or maybe the toy will cause her to spring into the air and turn. Her zoomies are not only on the floor but include vertical leaps. She will calm down and rest hard—she is a greyhound, after all.

We have had several visitors while hosting Girlie, and she has taken to them all. If it’s human, it is a friend. If it is human knitting or crocheting, it is a better friend. She has also hosted a smaller female dog visitor and enjoyed the new company.

Girlie loves a walk and is pretty good at walking straight. She won’t do her business on her walk (ours are usually 30-45 minutes), so a home with a yard would be best. She is a quiet girl and doesn’t protest going to her crate at night or when her humans are leaving. We have crated her and left her loose in one room (not the whole house), and not come home to anything disastrous (but definitely to a new arrangement of shoes ).

Girlie has a bit of a diva streak, and will insert herself between your own pack and you. Her foster brothers are patient and let her. She also does a little resource guarding with food, toys, beds, and humans. We have not had any issues as there’s enough space so her brothers know to just give her some space. She gets along with them, but just likes them to know that she is the queen.

Girlie is a smart girl who sits on her own in front of the glass door. She also has figured out door handles, we make sure they are latched and/or locked. She uses her new talent to get to her human, not to leave.

We love Girlie and know she will make a great addition to a lively and patient home.
