Additional Adoption Fee Information for East
GALT is charging an adoption fee of $1,250 for Irish retired racing greyhounds 7 years and younger and $1150 for those 8 and over.

The Irish greyhounds arrive to us spayed or neutered with current rabies vaccinations. The transportation cost averages $1,620 per dog, and GALT spends another approximately $400 for CBC blood work with heartworm test, Protatek testing, dental and vaccinations required for this environment.

At this time, Ireland is the current source for retired racing greyhounds. Southland track in West Memphis, AR is ceasing racing December 31, 2022. After that time there will be only 2 tracks left in West Virginia. All of those retired racers will go to adoption groups on the east coast.

For its almost 22 years in existence, GALT has operated as a 501 (c) 3 Corporation. The Irish retired racers’ adoption fee correlates to this policy.

East’s adoption fee is: $1,250

East, aka Killee East, is a 3year old brindle male born on October 6, 2019. His sire is Bull Run Bolt and his dam is Killee Diva. East is one of GALT’s Irish hounds and has 14 races to his credit on Greyhound Data. He should not live with cats.

East, aka Easton in our house, is a handsome 3 yr old  Irish lad. He loves every person he comes in contact with and gets along well with large and small dogs alike. He currently resides with a greyhound and 2 Italian greyhounds in his foster home. He’s learned quickly from his housemates and is already a champion couch potato. He loves to snuggle up with his new female greyhound friend.

East came to us underweight and we’ve been feeding him extra – and it’s working! He looks stunning! Likely because of his fondness for food, he is quite a counter surfer, so don’t leave a sandwich within range of this needlenose fella. He walks well on a leash and sleeps through the night.  He isn’t very vocal unless he sees a squirrel or is left alone. He is crate trained and will initially “sing” a sad song when you leave the house. East gets super excited to see his people when they return and will lean into you for loving.

He has recently discovered stuffies and likes to destuff them. He is a collector of shoes and is not destructive with them. He has learned to use a doggie door, though watch out or this stealthy boy will try to slip out the front door given the chance.

This beautiful brindle is a loveable and goofy boy who will be by your side every chance he gets.
