Billy is a striking blue brindle male from Australia born March 14, 2021. Billy never raced and is not individually registered, so we do not know his lineage.
Billy, a retired racing Greyhound from Australia, is now looking for his forever home. This calm, gentle soul has made an easy transition from the track to enjoying the finer things in life, like leisurely naps and quiet neighborhood observations. Here’s what makes Billy truly special:
Social Butterfly: Billy has spent time with other Greyhounds, a Borzoi, and a small hound mix and gets along wonderfully. He enjoys the company of other dogs and is equally content relaxing solo.
Gentle and Well-Mannered: Billy is a sweetheart with people and is calm and polite in his interactions. While he hasn’t spent time with children yet, his calm demeanor suggests he could adapt well with proper introductions.
Independent and Relaxed: While Billy is crate-trained, he doesn’t require one and is comfortable napping on his own when left alone for short periods. He takes changes in stride, remaining unbothered by vacuums, thunderstorms, or the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Leash and Potty Training Progress: Billy is learning leash manners and improving every day—though he might still pull a bit when he gets the urge to sprint. He knows how to signal when he needs to go outside by waiting patiently at the door once he learns your routine.
Stair Navigator in Training: Stairs were a bit tricky for Billy at first, and now with patience and practice, he’s gotten much better and is gaining confidence.
Billy’s had a handful of idiopathic seizures since he arrived. As a preventative, our vets put him on Keppra and this has kept him regulated since he started taking the meds. There is no reason to believe this will impact his ability to have a wonderful and loving life.
Billy is more than just a handsome face; he’s a calm, loving, and adaptable companion ready to bring joy to a lucky family. If you’re looking for a laid-back dog who loves quietly observing the world and lounging by your side, Billy might be the perfect match, and you’ll quickly see why he’s so special!
