GALT’S 2024 Holiday Angels Matching Fund

While 2024 was a year of significant change for GALT, we continued to do what we do best: find forever homes for happy hounds! In addition to welcoming many hounds from the United States, we took in a number of retired racing greyhounds from Australia in 2024, like the five pictured above who arrived with three others on December 7. Our donors and volunteers have stepped up time and again to assist as we transitioned from our kennel facility to an all-foster organization for rehoming greyhounds and other sighthounds. With your help, we are now better positioned to continue the mission that Susie and John McQuade started when they formed GALT over 23 years ago. We wish the McQuades well as they retire from GALT at the end of this month and begin their next adventure!

Without the expense of a kennel after year-end, our biggest financial need going forward will be for medical expenses. Several of our most active donors have risen to the occasion again to help us raise medical funds by pledging a total of $20,000 for GALT’s 2024 Holiday Angels Matching Fund. All donations made to the Dr. E. Kelly Nitsche Veterinary Care Fund between December 5 and 31 will be applied toward the $20K match, effectively doubling your gift!

Please read below for more information about our Holiday Angels Matching Fund donors, and remember that YOU can help the hounds with your gift of any size to the Dr. E. Kelly Nitsche Veterinary Care Fund. Many thanks to all who supported GALT in 2024 and who are helping us lay a firm financial foundation for 2025!

Lark and John Sessions

The first pledge for GALT’s 2024 Holiday Angels Matching Fund came from Lark and John Sessions. They are honoring their Irish brindle greyhound Genie, whom they describe as “a little princess who gets almost anything she wants.” They are happy to participate in the Matching Fund so more hounds can be spoiled like Genie when they make it to their forever homes!

Our third pledge came from ANONYMOUS ANGELS in memory of their two Rainbow Bridge greys who were adopted together as seniors.

Rick and Linda Vayo

Pledge #4 is from Rick and Linda Vayo, who started the Amanda & Emmet Golden Years Fund in 2018 in memory of their beloved senior greys. The Vayos firmly believe that adopting a senior grey is the best kept secret in the greyhound world!

ANONYMOUS ANGELS

Our fifth pledge came from ANONYMOUS ANGELS who have adopted many greys over the years and are happy to help other hounds on their journeys to forever homes!

We are “greytful” for our Holiday Angels Matching Fund donors, and we also appreciate the many other GALT supporters who make gifts of any size. These additional gifts are the key to meeting our overall goal of another $20,000 in general funds, and they really do add up, regardless of size! Please make your donation here on or before December 31, in order to double the value of your gift with the matching funds from our GALT 2024 Holiday Angels. THANK YOU, AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM THE HOUNDS!
