GALT is charging an adoption fee of $750 for Australian retired racing greyhounds 7 years and younger and $650 for those 8 and over.
The Australian greyhounds arrive to us spayed or neutered with current rabies vaccinations. The transportation cost averages $1,620 per dog, and GALT spends another approximately $400 for CBC blood work with heartworm test, Protatek testing, dental and vaccinations required for this environment.

Trixie, aka Viatrix, is a fawn female greyhound born May 7, 2019 and is from Australia. Her sire is Aston dee Bee and her dam is Resemblance. Trixie has 32 races to her credit. She is undergoing intake and will be available soon. She has yet to be evaluated for cats and small dogs but is good with chickens.
Trixie has been an absolute delight to foster! She is so sweet and loving and gets along great with every person and dog she meets. She loves being near her people and her thick fur is sooooo soft and pet-able you just want to love on her all day!
Trixie has good house manners. She has never gotten on furniture or taken anything off the counters. She did get hold of a pair of slippers one time, maybe she thought we were just walking around with giant stuffed toys on our feet?
Trixie did have one accident in the house but it really wasn’t her fault. She had learned how to go up the stairs but not down the stairs. She got stuck upstairs and for all she knew she might be there forever? She is now a pro on going up and down stairs and in and out the dog door.
Trixie absolutely loves stuffed toys! She wants to play with all of them all at once! Fortunately, she prefers to play with them in the house, so she gathers the toys that our dog deposits outside and then brings them back inside. That’s handy!
Trixie is a good eater. When she finishes her meal, she will check our dog’s bowl to see if she needs help finishing up. She will then obediently go outside when we tell her to.
We have never seen a greyhound so easy-going about things. When we trim her nails, she barely moves a muscle – same when we bathe her. Why can’t all the dogs be so easy to groom?
Thunder does bother Trixie just a bit. She will pace around the house just to be sure the sky isn’t falling. We usually put the dogs in a room with blackout curtains and a noise machine during thunderstorms and that seems to work well for Trixie also.
Trixie enjoys short runs in the yard and short walks in the neighborhood. About ½ mile seems to be her limit. She doesn’t complain – she just stops and says I’ve had enough, and I can just hang out here – forever…
If you are looking for a really sweet, loving, obedient dog – then you will want to take a good look at this pretty girl! If you are lucky – she might just pick you to be her forever family!
