Additional Adoption Fee Information
GALT is charging an adoption fee of $750 for Australian retired racing greyhounds 7 years and younger and $650 for those 8 and over.
The Australian greyhounds arrive to us spayed or neutered with current rabies vaccinations. The transportation cost averages $1,620 per dog, and GALT spends another approximately $400 for CBC blood work with heartworm test, Protatek testing, dental and vaccinations required for this environment.
For its almost 22 years in existence, GALT has operated as a 501 (c) 3 Corporation. The Australian retired racers’ adoption fee correlates to this policy.

Thomas, aka Wild Tom, is a black male born March 2019. His sire is Dyna Double One and his dam is Wild Sarah. Thomas has 3 races to his credit. It is not known if he is cat or small animal tolerant at this time. He is undergoing intake at this time.
Thomas is a very sweet and loving hound. He is big, goofy and playful with a dash of protectiveness. He loves meal time and is very trainable. He’s not the smartest boy though he follows directions well. He is, however, still a greyhound so sometimes he does have selective listening!
He has good house manners and a super effective “poor pitiful me” look that is near impossible to resist. He is a stuffy killer though, so no soft toys for this boy.
He is living as an only dog and does well with being left alone. He is also a pro with stairs. He loves being the line leader and will guide you even though he has no idea where you are going. He’ll just stay right in front of you…all.the.time. We are working on being next to us instead of in front.
He does seem to be a bit protective. Our son came over for Mother’s Day and he was not sure about this stranger in the house. He barked and growled at him. The pest control person came by a few days later and Thomas was fine with it, all happy and tail wagging, until the guy went upstairs to spray. Thomas did not like that and gave low warning growls. We stayed with him and ensured that all was okay, but he does appear to be protective of his people. I’m not sure how well he would do with young kids and their friends in and out. A quieter home would be his best fit.
