Val

Val is a sweet, playful boy with a gentle heart—and he is ready to make one lucky family very happy. He is good with people of all ages, loves being close to his humans, and happily soaks up all the petting they are willing to give. He may quietly place his head in your lap when he is ready for a little extra affection. In a calmer home, we think his loving personality will shine even brighter as he settles in and realizes he is finally home.

Personality and Play Style
When it’s playtime, Val is ready to zoom! He loves a good game of chase with other dogs and takes obvious pride in showing the others just how fast he can run. His backyard style can be energetic and a little rowdy. He has been a good sport—catching up and passing his friends without snapping, biting, or deliberately bowling anyone over. He likes toys, too, and is happy to surrender one when another dog wants a turn.

Val lives with small dogs and cats. He gets along well with the indoor cats. If a cat is outside, he may occasionally engage in an unsolicited game of backyard chase. Naturally introductions, supervision, and clear boundaries are important to help him practice polite feline manners.

Home Life and Manners
Val is a smart cookie: he figured out the electronic dog door with no trouble and would likely learn a regular one just as quickly. He sleeps about eight hours at a time and has briefly chosen to go into a crate on his own, so he may adjust well to crate training. He is easygoing and cooperative when gently guided by the collar.

Mealtime is one of Val’s favorite events of the day, and he has learned to wait for his own bowl. He is also a firm believer in air conditioning: when it’s hot, he is happiest snoozing inside with the other dogs and keeping outdoor trips to a minimum. He has sampled the couch once or twice, though his preferred throne is a big, comfy bolstered bed on the floor.

Good to Know

  • Cord connoisseur: Val is still learning that electrical cords, plugs, and phone chargers are not chew toys. They will need to be secured and kept safely out of reach.
  • Treasure collector: Shoes and gloves may mysteriously migrate to his bed. He usually carries rather than damages them, however, cardboard and other loose objects may not be so lucky.
  • Curious and tall: Val can reach counters and may investigate anything left unattended, so a tidy, dog-proofed home will set him up for success.
  • Medicine trick: He prefers taking his monthly pill, chopped up and mixed with tasty food.

Val is looking for a family who will laugh at his goofy habits, appreciate his playful energy, and give him kind, consistent boundaries. A family willing to supervise his cat interactions and keep tempting treasures tucked away will be rewarded with a sweet, adaptable companion who is ready to race into their life—and then curl up nearby for a well-earned nap.
