Indiana
Indiana settled into home life remarkably quickly. She transitioned into our routine almost seamlessly and has been an easy, enjoyable foster. Indiana has been very quiet — we haven’t even heard her bark.
She sleeps quietly through the night in her crate in our bedroom and has shown no signs of separation anxiety. She’s also a quick learner. She tested whether our bed was available when she first arrived, then after a few consistent “no’s,” she now respects that boundary without issue.
Indiana is food motivated, making her eager to learn and easy to reward during training. She absolutely loves toys! She seems to think every room should have a toy in it, so you’ll often find little collections wherever she’s been napping.
Speaking of naps… Indiana is a professional lounger. If you have a comfortable couch, chair, or sunny window seat, she’ll happily keep it warm. She loves being near her people without being demanding or needy.
She gets along well with our resident dogs and doesn’t rely on them for confidence. Because she’s comfortable entertaining herself and has shown no separation anxiety, we think she could do well as either an only dog or with another calm canine companion.
While she has not shown signs of a high prey drive during her time with us, our resident squirrels appear to have noticed and are enjoying the temporary reprieve. As with any greyhound, we would still recommend careful introductions to other small animals until her behavior is well established.
Based on what we’ve seen so far, we believe she could adapt well to apartment living, provided she receives regular walks and the daily exercise every greyhound enjoys.
Indiana is still settling in, and we’ll continue learning more about her personality. After a short time, she’s proving to be a calm, affectionate, easygoing girl who has made herself right at home. We have every reason to believe she’ll settle into her forever home just as quickly, where she’ll no doubt claim a cozy couch, a favorite sunny spot, and—most importantly—the hearts of her new family.
