Additional Adoption Fee Information

GALT is charging an adoption fee of $750 for Australian retired racing greyhounds 7 years and younger and $650 for those 8 and over.

The Australian greyhounds arrive to us spayed or neutered with current rabies vaccinations. The transportation cost averages $1,620 per dog, and GALT spends another approximately $400 for CBC blood work with heartworm test, Protatek testing, dental and vaccinations required for this environment.

For its almost 22 years in existence, GALT has operated as a 501 (c) 3 Corporation. The Australian retired racers’ adoption fee correlates to this policy.

Diesel, aka King of Spades, is a white with black male born September 1, 2019. His sire is Head Bound and his dam is Just a Show. Diesel comes to GALT from Australia where he ran 16 races. Diesel will be tested for cat tolerance soon.

Diesel is a big sweetheart who loves ear scratches and belly rubs. He is highly food and treat motivated. He loves going for walks and is very well-behaved on a leash. He also gets along well with other dogs, both big and small, greyhound and non-grey.

He is still learning the rules of the house and has something of a mischievous streak, though he responds well to correction. He should be crated when left alone, at least until he knows the rules. Diesel exhibits a bit of sleep startle, so it’s best that he not live with children.

When his humans are home, he will be just fine letting himself in and out of a doggy door. He jumps in and out of the car with ease and has already shown his keen couch potato tendencies! Diesel is a loving and loyal companion who would make a great addition to any family.
