Additional Adoption Fee Information

GALT is charging an adoption fee of $750 for Australian retired racing greyhounds 7 years and younger and $650 for those 8 and over.

The Australian greyhounds arrive to us spayed or neutered with current rabies vaccinations. The transportation cost averages $1,620 per dog, and GALT spends another approximately $400 for CBC blood work with heartworm test, Protatek testing, dental and vaccinations required for this environment.

For its almost 22 years in existence, GALT has operated as a 501 (c) 3 Corporation. The Australian retired racers’ adoption fee correlates to this policy.

Cash, aka Phase, is a black male born March 18, 2019. HIs sire is Bernardo and his dam is Forever Merry. Cash has 39 races to his credit. It is not known if he is cat or small animal tolerant at this time. Cash is a wonderful companion and walks well on leash.

Cash is a total love bug with great manners. He is enjoying apartment life in the big city, even riding the elevator with his foster family!

Cash is smart, adaptable and very eager to please. While he enjoys hanging most other big dogs, he is not good with cats and small dogs (they look fun to chase). When he is on the leash, he is calm and doesn’t pull. He understands basic commands like “Leave It” and “To Me” when we ask him to focus on us instead of a distraction (SQUIRREL!). He loves playing fetch in the fenced dog area and sniffing all the good sniffs on local trails.

This laid-back fellow is calm and obedient. He can be left alone without a crate and he amuses himself by playing quietly with his stuffed toys while his people are busy or out. He is very polite and asks to be let out between walks by shaking his head to get your attention, then play-bowing at the door.

When he is happy and excited he will chitter his teeth and waggle all over. Cash has Pannus, an eye condition that requires daily eye drops which he tolerates well. This gentle fella is a people person and enjoys the company of men, women, and children. Most of all he loves big naps and big cuddles!
