Carl
Carl is a lovely red brindle born January 16, 2022. His sire is Superior Panama, and his dam is Wynburn Willow. Carl has 12 races to his credit before he retired in December 2025.
Carl has truly been a dream foster! I’ll admit, we were a little nervous when I first read his bio from his Australian people about his high prey drive — and now I’m convinced he simply had a grand plan to make his way to the States and find his perfect forever home. Mission well underway!
He’s currently living the good life as an only dog and he is absolutely thriving. Carl adores his people and wants to be wherever you are. He’ll happily follow you from room to room, and yes — he even stands sweetly outside the bathroom door, patiently standing guard like your very own tall, loyal security detail.
Carl is super food motivated (aren’t we all?) and responds beautifully to correction. His house manners are impeccable. There are days when we’re both at work and he’s home alone for up to 8 hours — uncrated — and he does wonderfully. We make sure to set him up for success: no snacks on the counter, no tempting paper to shred, and baby gates to limit access to certain areas (which he fully respects like the polite gentleman he is).
At night, he sleeps crated in his own cozy space and — here’s the unicorn trait — he lets you sleep in! During the week he’ll get up early with you, but I’ve slept as late as 8:00 a.m. without hearing a peep. When I finally emerge, he’s delighted to greet me and ready to be released into the world for another great day.
We’ve also tested him with our son’s dachshund, and he did very well. While he does have a higher prey drive (so tiny fluffy dogs may be a question mark), he handled a confident, alpha small dog beautifully. He got excited to play and followed the dachshund around at first, and then settled nicely. I believe Carl may be trainable with small, short-haired dogs, especially with clear leadership and structure.
In short, Carl is affectionate, respectful, adaptable, and ready to bring a whole lot of heart into someone’s life.
