Bluebell

Bluebell is a white with black cow doggie found in Clovis NM, estimated to be born in early 2024. The people who picked her up think she was dumped and was loose for about two weeks. One day she saw someone walking one of their family’s dogs and Bluebell just followed them home.

Bluebell has been good with the other dogs and is living in a home with an adult cat and young kittens. She hasn’t shown any prey drive – she’s tried to play with the cats, and they won’t have anything to do with her. She’s been perfectly sweet and seeks affection from humans. When loose, Bluebell is pretty high energy and loves to play with toys and balls. Her hair is short and bunny soft. The home where she is has a six foot wall and some have lower gates; she’s shown no signs of trying to jump out or escape – she’s too interested in being with her people.

Bluebell is a sweet girl who loves nothing more than to be hanging out with her people or playing with her much smaller foster sister. She has no problem entertaining herself when no one else wants to play. For most of the day she’s pretty laid back and just wants to roach on the couch or lay behind the drapes and snooze, then she goes through spurts of wild puppy energy that results in couch zoomies, flying toys and unmade beds. When outside her first mission is to jump in the pool, no matter the weather, and then run a lap around the yard. She loves to throw her toys in the pool and then go in after them. Her absolute favorite thing is to chase bugs around the pool and bring them to you when she catches them.

Bluebell is extremely predictable. Every morning at 7:30 (she even changed with daylight savings time!) she starts to quietly whine from her crate, letting us know it’s time for a greenie and to go out. Then at 9:00 each evening, her batteries run out and she crashes on the couch until she decides it’s time to put herself to bed in her crate. If she had her way, she would sleep in the bed with us; she tends to run and talk in her sleep so it would be like trying to sleep with a belligerent drunk octopus.

Bluebell is learning “inside voice” and she does well until she gets frustrated that we aren’t understanding or moving fast enough. When she wants out she softly whines at the back door, then when she wants back in she bangs on the door with her front feet like something is after her.

She is a little bit of a counter surfer, so cooking time should be monitored if she’s in the room. We crate her when we leave for extended periods just to make sure she doesn’t find something she shouldn’t have.

She loves our grandkids though she doesn’t realize how big she is and has knocked the smaller one down while trying to play. She does great when we are out and about and lets kids pet her without issue.

Bluebell is cat safe and she does occasionally chase the cat when she wants to play but the cat doesn’t. She gets along with all the neighbors’ dogs and often runs the fence with them and they lob toys over the fences to each other.

Bluebell is a great girl who is easy going and a snuggle bug. She would be a great addition to a pack or as an only dog. She would prefer a home with people who are home a lot, a pool (or kiddie pool) or a large yard for zoomies and sunbathing.
