Additional Adoption Fee Information
GALT is charging an adoption fee of $750 for Australian retired racing greyhounds 7 years and younger and $650 for those 8 and over.
The Australian greyhounds arrive to us spayed or neutered with current rabies vaccinations. The transportation cost averages $1,620 per dog, and GALT spends another approximately $400 for CBC blood work with heartworm test, Protatek testing, dental and vaccinations required for this environment.
For its almost 22 years in existence, GALT has operated as a 501 (c) 3 Corporation. The Australian retired racers’ adoption fee correlates to this policy.

Becky is a black female born September, 28, 2018, in Australia. She is not individually registered so we don’t know about her lineage. She should not live with cats or small dogs.
Becky is a sweet chill girl. She is currently living as an only dog and is doing beautifully. She was a bit shy at first and has been opening up and showing more of her personality every day. She is somewhat aloof and does not follow you from room to room. She is happy to just hang out on her bed or watch for squirrels.
She is a huntress and scavenger, and very food motivated. She gets very excited for meal time and is very interested in anything you’re eating. She is a petite girl so counter surfing has not been a thing yet, though we don’t tempt fate and ensure no food is left on the counters. On walks she is on high alert, pulls to go where she wants. This is a work in progress. She also loves looking out the window and alerting you to any squirrels that dare to play on the trees in your yard. I recommend leaving your blinds up so she can look out. If not, she will make her own opening to see out. If they are slightly up, she leaves them alone. Becky is great with our carpeted stairs and our wood floors.
She is not a fan of thunder at all. She needs an interior space to hunker down until the storm passes. She loves spending time in the yard checking every nook and cranny for more critters that need to be chased out.
Becky’s ideal home should have a yard to keep safe from critters. She should not live with small dogs or cats, and will likely do best as an only pet.
