Ivy
Ivy appears to be an Afghan Hound/Poodle mix born late 2024. She was advertised for free on Craigslist in Austin and GALT was alerted to this unusual sighthound mix. We learned she was in an apartment and needed more time and space than the family could support. She is an energetic, people pleasing young girl. We will learn more about her personality in a foster home.
Ivy’s DNA results let us know that she is 51% Afghan Hound, 43% Poodle (Medium and Standard), 5% Labrador Retriever, and 1% Poodle (Toy and Miniature).
Miss Ivy is a truly lovable girl who feels happiest when she’s right by your side. She is a genuine “good girl,” enjoying running in the yard, playing with squeaky balls and toys, and chasing her foster brothers. Ivy’s friendly nature shines through in every interaction—she welcomes everyone she meets, and a treat quickly makes you her new best friend.
This sweet girl is an Afghan Hound and Poodle mix, sometimes playfully called a “Poo-ghan” or “Afa-poo.” According to her DNA test, Ivy is 51% Afghan Hound, 45% Poodle, and 4% Labrador Retriever—making her 100% adorable! Ivy came to GALT after her previous owner was unable to care for her in an apartment setting. When she arrived, her fur was severely matted and she was in need of a well-deserved spa day. Due to her prolonged matted fur, Ivy is sensitive to touch and doesn’t enjoy being brushed. Her foster mom uses soft brushes, gentle petting, and light massages to help Ivy feel comfortable.
Now that Ivy is safe and free from the discomfort of matted fur, her playful personality can truly shine. She is house trained, crate trained, and understands some basic commands.
