Additional Adoption Fee Information

GALT is charging an adoption fee of $750 for Australian retired racing greyhounds 7 years and younger and $650 for those 8 and over.

The Australian greyhounds arrive to us spayed or neutered with current rabies vaccinations. The transportation cost averages $1,620 per dog, and GALT spends another approximately $400 for CBC blood work with heartworm test, Protatek testing, dental and vaccinations required for this environment.

For its almost 22 years in existence, GALT has operated as a 501 (c) 3 Corporation. The Australian retired racers’ adoption fee correlates to this policy.

Dolly, aka Dolly Valley, is a lovely black female born May 25, 2020. Her sire is Zambora Brockie and her dam is Jacklyn Valley; Dolly has 20 races to her credit at various tracks in Australia before racing to GALT. Dolly could get along with children and small dogs.

Well hello Dolly; you’re looking swell, Dolly! And, we’re excited to help her find where she belongs! This four-year-old lovable Aussie, who once graced the tracks for 20 races, still has a special way of winning the hearts of anyone she’s around.

She’s our first foster, and this 60-pound beauty has been an easy fit with our all male-pack, which includes a five-year-old Greyhound/Saluki,  a four-year-old Pomeranian and our 12-year-old terrier mix. Dolly has a crush on the older guy, she realizes he’s the Alpha, and she always gives him space.

Dolly’s demeanor is one of grace and quiet independence at times. She likes her napping, and she has really warmed up to hugs and extra attention! Her chestnut brown eyes always have a twinkle and her black fur feels like you’re running your fingers through powdered sugar.

Dolly has lovely house manners and lightly whimpers by the door when she wants out. She loves her running time in our backyard, and she has fun watching for squirrels with our pack! We’ve started to see her begin to play with toys, which is very puppy-like! She’s ALWAYS up for an outing and is a dream to walk on a leash. Plus, when it comes to stormy Texas weather, she doesn’t seem affected at all.

We don’t recommend apartment living because she can be vocal at times in a charming way. This also makes for a great watchdog. And because she’s a social butterfly, we don’t think she’d excel as an only dog.

We were told she loved her food and liked to gobble it. So, she quickly adjusted to a slow-eating bowl, and she enjoys every morsel!  Treats are extra special to this lanky darling, and Dolly has her own way of letting us know she’s extremely thankful each time she gets one!

Dolly has been a HUGE blessing for us, and we know she’ll fill someone’s heart in a BIG way!
