2014 -- GALT's "Cooking for the Hounds" – Another Fabulous Culinary Feast!

After eight previous years of providing Friends of GALT with absolutely delicious food, we wondered how The Mercury's Executive Chef, Chris Ward, could possibly top himself – but this year’s menu was tastier than ever – highlighted by the following dishes:

  • Fried Risotto with Crisped Sweetbreads & Truffle Sauce
  • Braised Short Rib with Celery Root Puree
  • Warm Ricotta & Texas Tomato Salad
  • Chocolate Icebox Pie
  • Honey Madeleines & Palmiers

Chef Ward once again opened his kitchen for an interesting demonstration and generously donated his fabulous cuisine in support of GALT's greyhounds. The silent auction bidding was lively, and Celebrity Auctioneer, Brady Tinker, did a terrific job sparking interest in our three live auction items: an autographed Tony Romo game jersey; a beautiful purse designed and signed by artist Trish Biddle; and a special "Cooking for the Hounds" tote bag autographed by Chef Ward. Many thanks to Chris, Brady and Trish for helping make this such a special event -- and we were also honored to welcome Mark Followill, Jack Lazorko and SO many other Friends of GALT. Also joining the party were a couple of our Greyt Ambassadors, Emma and Asp – who didn't get anything to eat but did manage to steal a few hearts before the evening was over!

Thanks to the generosity of Chef Ward and our attendees, we raised much needed funds to help defray some of our medical, boarding and other operating expenses. GALT sincerely appreciates the support of our auction donors, bidders, event attendees and volunteers. We literally could not carry out our "No Grey Turned Away" mission without all of you!
