Cindy is beautiful champagne-fawn small female greyhound, thought to be about 2 years old. Cindy and Natalie were found as strays in south Fort Worth, scavenging in garbage cans at a residence. She is a petite girl, and just a little timid right now. Cindy is very fond of Natalie, and considers her to be her best buddy. It is not known at this time if Cindy is small animal or cat tolerant.
Cindy came home with me on April 7th, very timid, shy and afraid to walk on surfaces other than carpet. Today, she is showing some of her sweet cuddly personality and she absolutely loves the attention. She plays morning and evening with the two screaming monkeys she has adopted. She is walking on ceramic tile and wood floors without hesitation. She is eating well, thoroughly enjoys her evening walks with the rest of my gang, still a little insecure when the neighborhood dogs bark, but gaining more confidence daily.
Cindy hated her crate day one and it was a battle to get her in there each morning. After only a few days she decided that the reward of a yummy treat or two far outweighed going into the crate. She now kennels up on her own in the morning, sits in her crate and waits for the all-important acknowledgement of "such a good girl" and her treats!
She is working on "sit and down" and she will have those commands mastered in no time. She is such a little peanut that "lap dog" comes to mind - stop by one of the meet and greets to see how she is doing.
Update #1:
Cindy continues to make her way to becoming a real sweetheart. She is still timid, but joins the rest of the gang when it is time for lovin', zoom groomin' and treats. She is at the beginning when it comes to "learning how to be a beloved pet", but she does all she can to please.
She is actually running around in my huge backyard with the big dogs now and although she is too small to outrun them in a dead heat, she is small enough to outmaneuver them in a split second and run back to me for protection.
She is developing a delightful loving personality and would love to be a lap dog wherever she goes. She does like to play with my other foster, Summer, but it is a soft sort of play for now. I am just happy to see her "playing" - given her timid nature, this is a huge step for her.
Update #2:
Cindy continues to gain more confidence and she enjoys meeting new people, although she is still a little shy about it she warms up to the idea quickly. She is a real cuddle-bug, be it in your lap for a short time or she would gladly become a sleeping companion.
She is "sitting" on command and we are diligently working on "down" now. She has a very sweet nature, but she is a two-year-old and some of that mischievousness is starting to show. This simply means, she'll drag a magazine off to the other room and start shredding it, I'll catch her in the act, tell her "no" and she looks at me like she could care less and didn't do anything wrong.
