Rocket is an approximately 4 year old black and white fuzzy greyhound. The Mansfield Animal Control Officer called early Thursday September 27, as they had received a call Wednesday night from folks who witnessed a dog being thrown out of a truck. When they got to him, his leg was badly broken, so they immediately took him to the nearby emergency animal clinic and contacted GALT. A very thin Rocket was picked up by 11am by a dedicated GALT volunteer and taken to VCA Preston Park Animal Hospital. Surgery was scheduled on Friday morning with Dr. Bob Radasch of the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center. It was a badly broken tibia, which was set with a bone plate and 8 screws. Dr. Radasch is convinced the break was due to his being hurled out of the truck, as he has many cuts and scrapes. He is now all healed up and ready to zoom! Rocket is great with small dogs, but a little too intense on chasing the kitties.
