Little Lu, aka Motex Little Lu, is an almost 3-year-old blue female born February 24, 2012. Her sire is B's O'Grady and her dam is Gallorette. Little Lu has 54 races on record, all at Gulf Greyhound Park. She started on October 5, 2013 and finished on October 2, 2014 with a torn plantar ligament in her left rear leg.
Little Lu is presently considered cat intolerant, and she should also be watched closely around small dogs. She is scheduled for surgery on October 30 at the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center. Her surgery was delayed to give her time to get over an infection.
Surgery was completed by Dr. Bob Radasch with Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center. Because of the severity of her injury, an external fixator was designed and put in place. This was a very difficult surgery and the device will be in place for at least 12 weeks. Dr. Radasch is hopeful for a successful arthrodesis, but Little Lu will most likely experience chronic lameness.
Little Lu's external fixator was removed and she is in the process of completing her medical procedures. She is being leash walked for the next 30 days in her foster home to insure the complete healing of this complicated fracture.
