Sweet Pea is an approximately 4 to 6-year-old fawn female. Sweet Pea was one of 11 dogs taken into custody by Ft. Worth Animal Control Cruelty Investigators on August 11, 2010, from a residence in Ft. Worth. She was covered with ticks and is carrying a heavy burden of intestinal parasites. She has positive titers to Ehrlichia, Babesia and Lyme. Treatment for these, as well as the intestinal parasites, has begun. Her physical condition indicates she has had pups in the past six months.
Sweet Pea's appetite is picking up a little in the last few days. She is being treated for a skin infection with additional antibiotics, as well as retreated for her intestinal parasites.
Sweet Pea finally received a negative fecal. She has several more weeks of treatment for the tick-borne diseases.
Sweet Pea is continuing in her treatments for Ehrlichia, Babesia, Lyme disease and internal parasites.
Sweet Pea's CBC and chemistry serum panel have been rechecked, and the results are terrific! She also was tested negative for a PCR tick disease panel. Sweet Pea will be completing the remainder of her medical procedures this next week.
