Dedi, aka RJ's Detroit, is a 9-year-old black and white female born June 5, 2003. Her sire is Larking About and her dam is Wix Acclaim. Dedi has 28 races to her credit on Greyhound-data.com, starting on January 12, 2006 at the Mardi Gras Racetrack, and ending on July 1, 2006 at the Flagler track. Dedi went on to have more offspring than races! Her first litter of eight puppies with sire Gable Dodge was whelped on August 27, 2007. The rest of her litters were with sire Gable Oscar: another eight puppies on May 6, 2008, eight more on June 16, 2009, and a final five on March 13, 2010. Whew! Dedi is more than ready to find a soft dog bed and a loving family.
Dedi is not cat trainable - she was very alert around the cat even after being hissed at.
Dedi is a very sweet girl. She loves finding a nice fluffy pillow to call her own. When she first came to our home, she didn't know how to take a dog cookie from our hand, but she is very clever, and mastered it in no time. She eats in a kennel, so as to not be disturbed by our other three greyhounds, however, the rest of her day, she has free roam of our house, even when we are at work. She never countersurfs or gets on the furniture. She loves a walk and never pulls on the leash and always enjoys a car ride. During the car ride, she lies down for the duration of the trip.
Dedi greets us when the alarm goes off in the morning and at the back door when we come home from work. She has never had an accident in the house, even though we believe our house is the first house she has been in. What a smart girl she is! She loves to stand right next to you so you can't move and you have to pet her. Being the center of attention is her best way of making sure she gets all of your attention. However, she is not an over-excited grey girl, and she will go off to rest before you know it. In addition, Dedi always sleeps through the night. She never wakes you up for a potty break in the middle of the night.
It's been such a pleasure having Dedi as a foster in our home and we think she will make a wonderful addition to your family.
