Brett, aka As He Is Brett, is a 3½-year-old red male born October 5, 2005. His sire is Stan’s Boy Flyer, making his grand sire the famous Gable Dodge, and his dam is Franchize Bessie. Brett raced in 46 races beginning in Dubuque, Iowa on August 15, 2007, making a brief stop at Derby Lane in St. Petersburg, Florida for 9 races and ending back in Dubuque on October 24, 2008. Brett is a strikingly, handsome boy with a black muzzle and those chocolate brown eyes – they will make you melt!
No cats for Brett: Brett should not be trusted with cats. He would not back down from Molly’s full-fledged hissing, growling and swatting. Maybe he will do better with small dogs.
Brett is one handsome red fawn boy with beautiful black markings on his face. He has a cute cowlick area on the back of his neck. He loves to get scratched, petted and loved on as much as he can, although he is not pushy about it. Another plus about Brett is that most of his toenails are light-colored, which makes trimming his nails much easier!
Brett has the most demonstrative “helicopter tail” I’ve ever seen – he gets it going in huge circles when he is happy, which is most of the time! He chatters his teeth when happy as well, so it’s very easy to tell when this boy is feeling the love. He gets along great with our three greyhounds. Brett also likes to rub his face on the side of my leg (in appreciation for a nice place to be, I think!).
Although we crated Brett the first few nights, we soon realized it wasn’t necessary and he quickly won his house-roaming privileges during the day as well. He does not become stubborn when going in the crate, but he is much happier not being in it. Brett sleeps through the night on a dog bed in our bedroom.
We have not heard him bark at all! Brett is a polite boy on leash. He is a little hesitant on slick tile, but he’s not afraid of it. At first he didn’t seem to like tight spaces or doorways, but he has gotten over that completely.
Brett has mastered the doggie door, however he does not require one as he will let you know when he needs to go out if you do not have one. He has not had one “accident” in the house EVER. He enjoys lying in the grass and taking naps in the sun. Perhaps he’s dreaming that YOU will provide him with his perfect Forever Home!
