GALT received a phone call on November 26 about a greyhound mix that was in the back yard of a home in Amarillo. She was being fed by relatives of the owner who died in August 2012, and she had been staying in the yard since then, and now she had stopped eating. Belle was picked up immediately and taken to Animal Medical Center where she was under the care of Dr. Wick Culp. Belle is estimated to be at least 10-12 years old, not six as GALT was told. Belle has trouble keeping any food down in her foster home. Blood tests indicate she has possible liver cancer or advanced liver disease. An ultra sound is scheduled for December 3 to further help with the diagnosis.
The special medical treatment cost needed by Belle is why the Miss Mesa Fund was established. If you would like to help with Belle's care, please take a moment to make a donation to the fund. You can use a credit card, check or PayPal by making the donation through the GALT GreytStore. You can also write a check (Greyhound Adoption League of Texas, P.O. Box 680, Addison, TX 75001) and note Miss Mesa Fund/Belle on your check.
Alternately, you can make a donation using PayPal by clicking on the button below. (The PayPal screen should appear in a new browser window; to return to GALT, close the PayPal window when you're finished making your donation.)
You WILL and CAN make a difference in Belle's life and the lives of other greyhounds in need of special medical care. Your help and support will make a difference... one greyhound at a time.
