Ariel is a 6 1/2 month old black and white female puppy born on July 27, 2020. Her mom is GALT's Peggy, who arrived to the GALT family only 1 week prior to the birth of her 7 pups. The sire is not known but could be a sibling of Peggy, which translates to an inbreeding. There may be future complications that are unknown at this time. Ariel is currently on the medication "Proin" for mild urinary incontinence. Ariel is cat and small animal tolerant.
Ariel is an adorable fun puppy, full of energy and LOVE. She loves to snuggle up with you and rest her head on your lap. She loves a good back scratching first thing in the morning. Ariel enjoys the outdoors and has been pretty successful with housebreaking. She loves to run outside and play with outdoor toys like tennis balls and frisbees, so a decent yard would be ideal. Playmates such as other young and patient greyhounds, or older kids (maybe 10+) would be wonderful playmates for her. She is learning about other breeds of dogs but most of them bark at her, so she doesn't know what to think about them.
Ariel walks well on a leash and would benefit from daily walks. Loud noises such as leaf blowers or loud cars tend to scare her and she may pull to get away from them, so a harness is best so she won't hurt herself. For this reason, smaller children should not be the ones walking her. She has shown some interest in squirrels but her attention span is short and she forgets about them when they "disappear" behind a tree. Currently she walks about 2.5 miles a day usually in the late afternoon, which gets her nice and tired for most of the evening.
She enjoys toys and games and is very smart! She sleeps in the bedroom on a dog bed surrounded by an x-pen, and has been fine. She will whine during the night to tell you if she needs to go out to potty, and that rarely happens as long as she has a final potty before bed. Because she is a puppy, she is still teething. Fingers are her favorite teething "toy", so any children should be careful and understand this is not an act of aggression. Mostly, Ariel is a snuggler and a lover. She loves to give kisses and lay with you wherever you are. She knows how to sit for treats and she is working on her crate skills. She doesn't hate it but she'd rather be out with you.
She can be a bit of a velcro dog and may follow her favorite people from room to room. Ariel will come with some of her favorite toys and activities to show you how good she is! Her ideal family would have another dog(s) so she won't be lonely when all the humans are out, and perhaps a few kids to play with her in a nice backyard. Because of COVID, Ariel has not spent much time alone; a forever home with someone who works from home, or stay at home adult, would be nice to get her acclimated. Is your home needing this sweet girl?
