GALT Events Greyhound Awareness Month - October 2011
Please join us in honoring the greyhound and its relatives (galgos, lurchers, etc.) throughout the world. We hope to raise the public's awareness of the wonder and magic
of greyhounds as pets, educate others on the current status of greyhounds around the world and to honor those greyhounds who have left us already.
Throughout the month, we have many different events planned including Yappy Hour, Rahr Brewery Tasting, many Meet & Greets, the Pup Crawl and Poker Run, and the Blessing of the Hounds, just to name a few!
Gathering in large numbers in public is the best way to get everyone's attention, so let's all join together this year and every year and celebrate the most wonderful, incredible companions on earth - the Greyhounds!
Orvis Meet & Greet
Three to four available GALT Greyhounds will be at this event. Construction News: FREE valet parking available for volunteers and guests at the Preston Road entrance in front of Orvis, as well as at several other points in the Plaza. Just look for the stands with a red V. Tips will not be allowed, so it truly is free.

Barktoberfest Meet & Greet Greyt Fun
Bring your greyhound and join GALT at our booth to educate the public about the joys of owning a greyhound! Three to four adoptable greyhounds will be at this event!

Yappy Hour @ Pho Colonial Greyt Fun
Bring your greyhound and join GALT at Pho Colonial for a Yappy Hour! For a $10 ticket, enjoy complimentary appetizers and drink specials ($3 beers/$5 wine) on the covered/gated patio. There will be raffles and trivia and fun for all! Please RSVP via Email so that we can have enough appetizers for all! This is a greyhound only event. Adoptable greyhounds will be at this event.
3rd Annual Westminster Doggie Show Greyt Fun
Featuring free hot dogs, cookies, and drinks! Your dog can enjoy doggie refreshments and you can brouse the shelter showcase and the pet blessing booth. There will be doggie door prizes and competitions! All doggies, large and small, must be leashed. Bring a lawn chair, your dog, your family and friends and enjoy the afternoon!

Deep Ellum Pup Crawl & Poker Run Greyt Fun Fundraiser

Poker Run Benefiting GALT!!! Each paid participant will be entered in a drawing for FC Dallas playoff tickets for the match on Wednesday, October 26th....and
opportunities at each stop to enter again!
Tickets are $25 per person and include poker, event t-shirt, Buzzbrews Tacos at Trees, Crawl party at Reno's, and a doggie bag. All breeds are welcome to participate!
What is a Pup Crawl? A Pup Crawl is a Pub Crawl (with fabulous drink specials at each stop) that you can bring your Pup with you - the best of both worlds! Combined with the Poker Run and raffles, everyone is sure to have a good time! Registration begins at the Bark Park Central Dog Park at 12:30pm. The Pup Crawl begins at 1:30pm from the Bark Park.
The first three stops will close at 3:00pm:
- Doggie Stop - Urban Paws to pick up event bandana and treats for your canine companion
- Poker Stop - Trees
- Poker Stop - Club Dada
These stops will be open from 1:30pm to 5:00pm:
- Poker Stop - St. Pete's Dancing Marlin
- Poker Stop - The Bone
- Last Poker Stop - Reno's Chop Stop (be there by 5pm)
At Reno's, prizes will be awarded for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd highest poker hands. There will also be raffle drawings!
