December 1, 2007
Coppell, TX
On December 1, 2007, GALT participated in the City of Coppell Holiday Parade for the first time. We didn't know what to expect. The theme this year was "Remember the Classics." In honor of that theme, we decided that "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" was the perfect classic for us and our beautiful Greys.
With approximately 16 dogs walking in the parade, all dressed from head to toe, there has seldom been such a handsome sight in Coppell. Our Greys held their antler clad heads high, they behaved perfectly, nobody barked (despite being barked at from the jealous dogs on the sidelines), and they looked so greyt in their Rudolph and Elf outfits. We got more "Oh wow - look at the pretty puppies, look at the Greyhounds" than any of us could have ever expected. There were Ohhh's and Ahhhh's coming from everywhere! People took pictures, and held up their dogs to give us special "paw waves." It was a feel-good event, and we all had huge smiles on our faces the whole time.
We want to thank the folks who brought candy to hand out to the spectators, and we got it just right as it lasted all the way to the end. We did have to wait for a good hour before the actual parade started. Once it started, time went very fast, and suddenly it was all over. This is definitely an event we want to do again, as it was greyt visibility. We were interviewed by the local TV station, and we got to give GALT and the Greyhounds some good PR. It was a wonderful way to start the holidays together with our beautiful dogs!
Many thanks to all who participated and helped make this a very successful event - you did greyt!
