Saturday, May 4, from 1:00 to 5:00, Greyhound Adoption League of Texas celebrated its first birthday at Paws Around Town, located at 2714 McKinney Avenue in Dallas. It was a glorious day, complete with sunshine, albeit a tad bit on the warm side! There was cake, frosty paws and ice cream for everyone to enjoy, and boy did they! GALT greyhounds attending were: Zeus, Keppy, Portia, Jig, Cooper, Astro now "Biscuit", Bailey, Rachel, Max, Blue Jay, Skunk now "Gambler", Cole, Ashley, Troy, Zenny, Al now "Ancho", June, Tracy, Jesse, Sassy, Huston, Reba, Mandy, Xander, Ranger, Archie, Sue now "Annie", Desi, Sonny, Rooster, Elmo, Gracie, Fiona and Scrabble. Many came with their moms, dads and greyhound sisters and brothers . . . it was a sight to behold!

All attending hounds were blessed by the Rev. Mr. Paul Husting in a very moving and special ceremony. There were over 15 raffle items, all greyhound themed, except for four Texas Ranger Tickets (Thanks Vicki, Ron and Mrs. Bairds!)

Greyhound sketches were available drawn by Mary Gibson of Bob O'Brian Caricatures. The law firm of McCurley, Kinser, McCurley and Nelson sponsored her appearance. Greyt thanks to them for providing this fun activity and fundraiser!

Microchipping was available at a reduced rate courtesy of Preston Park Animal Hospital and Dr. Jeff Ellis. Many people took advantage of this opportunity, as well as the wellness information concerning dental and nail care provided by PPAH vet technician, Debbie Maupin.

All GALT greyhounds received a birthday bandana and a goodie bag. Special guests included Lynn Alexander of A to Z Kennels, who was known as "mom" to over 1/3 of the attending GALT greyhounds before they retired--just ask Gambler and Blue Jay!
