Thomas, aka Great Thomas, was an almost 5-year-old, handsome brindle male greyhound born September 23, 2002. His sire is Gable Oscar making his grand sire the late Gable Dodge and his dam is Great Vision. Thomas' racing career started at the Corpus Christi, Texas, race track on February 2, 2005, and ended 119 races later on July 20, 2006... So how does he end up being a stray over a year later on August 16, 2007, in the parking lot of the CVS Pharmacy on Lake June Road in Dallas? Thomas was picked up by the Forney Road Shelter, and that is when GALT found him.
Thomas' medical evaluation and tests were normal so his neuter et al was scheduled routinely. Complications after surgery indicated there were underlying health issues. On Monday, September 3, Thomas underwent an emergency ultrasound and exploratory surgery which revealed Hemangiosarcoma of the spleen... Thomas never had a chance. He did experience the love and tender care that was given from his GALT foster home, and to him it was his forever home.
