Smoky, aka KB’s Smoky Rain, is a 1 1/2 year old dark brindle male born on December 18, 2018. His sire is Lonesome Cry and his dam is Boc’s Haiti Baby. Unfortunately, Smoky was injured while schooling during the 2020 Abilene Spring Meet held the end of May in Kansas. He suffered a large wound to his left cheek, which required his upper left canine to be extracted. The wound, which was open completely to his mouth, was able to be closed, and it is being closely monitored for healing. Smoky also incurred a grade 5 fracture to his accessory carpal bone in his right front ankle. He is seeing Dr. Bob Radasch to put this leg in a molded splint that will be slightly adjusted every 2 weeks for approximately six weeks. It is not known at this time if Smoky is cat or small animal tolerant.

The special medical treatment cost needed by Smoky is why the The Dr. E. Kelly Nitsche Veterinary Care Fund was established. If you would like to help with Smoky's care, please take a moment to make a donation to the fund. You WILL and CAN make a difference in Smoky's life and the lives of other greyhounds in need of special medical care. Your help and support will make a difference - one greyhound at a time.
