Sandy, aka AZ Tara Charm, is a stunning 3½-year-old red fawn female, born May 17, 2002. Her dam is Gable Oscar and her dam is AZ Reigh of Tara. Sandy's racing career spans 32 finishes starting January 13, 2004 at Gulf Greyhound Park in La Marque, TX, and ending December 13, 2004 at VictoryLand in Birmingham, AL, when she suffered a broken hock with injury to the right tibial tarsal region. The hock was cast, but as you can see from the picture, the right hock suffers subluxation of the tarsal metatarsal. She was referred from Dr. Jeff Ellis to Dr. Bob Radasch of the Dallas Surgical Center, who has recommended tarsal metatarsal fusion. That surgery will be performed on December 20 where either cross pins, or a bone plate or a splint will be applied. It is not known at this time if Sandy is small animal or cat tolerant.

Update: Sandy's surgery went very well. She was in a splint/cast for 10 weeks, and is now undergoing physical therapy to strengthen and get her used to using that leg. She is responding well, and is almost ready to find her forever home!
