Kay

Kay, aka Kay V Flamboyant, is a 2 ½-year-old fawn female born June 22, 2004. Kay was found as a stray along with Fannie and Valerie huddled in a ditch in an area south of Fort Worth. Her sire is Kiowa Sweet Trey and her dam is Flying Nikkei. As you can see, Kay is extremely malnourished and dehydrated, weighing only 33.5 pounds when she arrived. She and Fannie both received immediate blood transfusions, and were watched closely at an emergency clinic for several days, receiving fluids and feedings every several hours. Blood work for each is pending at this time. Kay is being closely monitored by Dr. Christy Soileau and Dr. Jeff Ellis of VCA Preston Park Animal Hospital. Check back for periodic updates.

Kay

Update 1/18/07

Kay has gained weight and is now at approximately 54 pounds! She is scheduled to complete the rest of her medical procedures (spay, dental, etc.) very soon. Then she, like Fannie, will be on the hunt for her forever home!

Update 12/15/06

Kay was released from VCA Preston Park Animal Hospital on Tuesday, December 12 to a foster home, where she and Fannie are together. Her weight was 42.7 pounds which tells how very, very dehydrated Kay was! All the fluids and frequent feedings from the emergency clinic have been quite a help. Kay's bloodwork is what would be expected of a greyhound in her condition; however it does show that she is heartworm negative and only positive to Babesia. Dr. Soileau and Dr. Ellis are monitoring her PCV and blood work very frequently. Kay also has a load of intestinal parasites and is being treated for that. Kay and Fannie are both ravenous when it comes to their frequent feeding times and are being supervised closely as both appear to be food aggressive - of course! Pictures of Kay will be coming soon. Sincere thanks to all who have had Kay, Fannie and Valerie in their thoughts and prayers.
