GALTX

Ghost is an approximately 7 year old white and black male greyhound surrendered to GALT. When Ghost arrived, he had a positive titer to Ehrlichia Canis as well as a positive borderline heartworm test. Treatment for both conditions began in November, 2016. His Ehrlichia Canis was successfully treated and in March 2017 he showed a negative PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test. However his heartworm test continued positive, and he had a second treatment in May. FINALLY, in July 2017 Ghost is now heartworm negative! This sweet, sweet boy is ready to find his forever family! Ghost is not considered to be small animal or cat tolerant.

UPDATE 11/1/16

Ghost's heartworm test revealed positive, so he received his first treatment for heartworms on 10/31/16. He is tolerating the treatment okay. He will be scheduled for his second treatment in 4 weeks. He is receiving treatment also for the Ehrlichia Canis.

UPDATE 2/1/17

Ghost is still testing positive to heartworms, so he will be kept quiet for the next 4 weeks and retested at that time.

UPDATE 3/2/17

Ghost is still testing positive to heartworms, so he will be kept quiet for the next 4 weeks and retested at that time.

UPDATE 4/3/17

Ghost's heartworm test shows borderline positive. He will be retested in 30 days.

UPDATE 6/23/17

Ghost was retreated on May 16 and 17 for his heartworms. He will be retested on July 16. We are hopeful he will clear at that time.

UPDATE 7/19/2017

Finally after almost 8 months, our sweet boy Ghost is heartworm NEGATIVE! This boy is ready for his forever couch and home!

Watch more of Ghost

Ghost is such a love bug! He loves to get chin scratches and ear scratches. Speaking of ears!! Love his at-attention-ears!! He does not typically get on the furniture unless he is not feeling well and needs closer/longer snuggles. He has very good manners in the house, unless he smells bread! Ghost is not much of a counter surfer unless you have bread up there. He LOVES bread and will pull down a wire fruit bowl at the back of the counter to get the bread you put there and mistakenly thought was safe.

He is by far the most vocal greyhounds we've fostered. He barks in the backyard at the other dogs getting walked and sometimes he'll bark in the house too. He also likes to sing along with sirens that go by. He has a greyt roo!

He is terrified of thunderstorms and will not go out in the rain unless you have him on a leash. On those rainy days you really have to take advantage of the breaks in the rain. He responds well to wearing a thunder shirt and staying in his crate with a blanket covering all sides except the door. It's his Safety den and he really needs it during storms.

Ghost is a playful, loving grey that deserves a loving forever family. He loves playing with other dogs big and small. Based on his reaction to a cat on TV, Ghost is likely not cat-safe.
