Ode to Angel
In the sleeping garden far away
I heard the ones who loved me say
O, Angel dear, tell us true -
How much longer must we grieve for you?
Not long, 'cause I dreamed in the Garden behind the moon
That Garden with doggie souls strewn -
That Susie and John will adopt a greyhound dear,
Then your grief will lighten - never fear.
The greyhound may play with my toys and doggie bone,
Sleep in your bed so he or she won't feel alone,
Goodbye, dear Susie and John - do not weep,
As with all creatures, large and small, I must sleep.
