Seniors are the best kept secret in the Greyhound World.

Bette Bette

Bette is a 10½-year-old female, who was turned into the Greeneville shelter because she was too old for continued breeding. Registered under the name, Better Deal, Bette's records shows that she is the offspring of sire, My Rooster, and dam, Real Sweet Deal. There are no races in Bette's name, but there are 24 greyhounds who call her 'mom' and after all that work, it's safe to say that Bette deserves her own soft couch. Collaborating with her human counterpart, Bette Midler, the two came up with a song called "I Look Good". Bette M may have all the credit for the lyrics, but GALT's divine Miss Bette surely gets some of the credit for the inspiration.

Within the Greyhound community, May is known as 'Adopt a Senior' month. You'll find Bette at the forefront of the crusade, grinning her 'you're only as old as you feel smile', and serving as a wonderful tribute to her cause. There is no question she loves humans, but it is not known at this time how Bette feels about cats or small animals.
