Baron

Baron, aka Bob's Baron, is a 3-year-old red fawn male born July 15, 2007. His sire is Bob's Skeet, making his grand sire the late famous Gable Dodge, and his dam is Bob's Rosalie. Baron has 7 races to his credit from August 1, 2009, to November 7, 2009, when he broke his front left wrist during his last race at Gulf Greyhound Park in LaMarque, TX. Surgery was performed on November 12, 2009, inserting a plate with 13 screws for a carpal fusion. Because the wrist was not healing, a second surgery was performed on February 19, 2010 to replace broken screws. Then because the infection was erupting through the skin on the front of his foot, Baron came to GALT from the adoption kennel at Gulf Greyhound Park. After months of trying to save his leg with the administration of strong antibiotics, the removal of the plate and screws, and still having a SEVERE staph infection, Dr. Bob Radasch of the Dallas Veterinary Surgery Center, in consultation with Dr. Jeff Ellis, recommended amputation of the leg. That was done on September 8, and Baron is doing so well now! He is ready to find his forever home!

Baron's foster parents think he would do well as an only companion pet, as well as a therapy greyhound! It is not known at this time if Baron is small animal or cat tolerant.
