Greyt Gala
Mardi Gras Dinner & Auction

February 27, 2010

The GALA Really Was GREYT - Thanks To You!

What a party! The Greyt Gala Mardi Gras Dinner was a magical night - greyt food and celebs - fabulous live and silent auctions - and a terrific after-party with music by Live 80. King Spot and Queen Amber were very gracious in greeting our guests, decked out in all their Mardi Gras regalia. The wine drawing was a quick sell-out, and the photo booth was also a big hit.

Many thanks to our special guest and Master of Ceremonies, John Rhadigan. John really kept things rolling with some entertaining stories and interesting celebrity interviews. Randy White and Burton Gilliam – perennial GALT favorites – stayed busy posing for photos and signing memorabilia items for the live and silent auctions. We are always honored to have Jack Lazorko and some of his Major League Baseball buddies. This year, Jose Guzman and Mike Phillips joined Jack in the MLB contingent. We were also delighted to have Trish Biddle join us again. Trish, the official artist for the Westminster Kennel Club, provided two of the most popular live auction items – a fabulous painting of greyhounds in a convertible and a signed official poster from this year’s WKC dog show.

It would be impossible to personally thank all of the other special people who contributed to the success of GALT's annual fundraiser, but we do want to thank one very special person in particular. James LaGesse - who, along with his wife Marjy, is "owned" by three GALT greyhounds - was the perfect auctioneer. James' impassioned - and very personal - pleas for "help for the hounds" allowed us to set a live auction record!

But the biggest THANK YOU goes out to all who purchased tickets and sponsorships - and/or donated or purchased auction items. Because of YOU, we raised much needed funds for GALT's greyhounds. Please accept our heartfelt thanks for helping making this year's gala a tremendous success!

Sincerely,
The Officers, Directors, and Committee Members of
